The Executive Director of the Sierra Leone Road Safety Authority – SLRSA Mr. Ibrahim Sannoh and team were on Thursday 22nd April 2021, hosted by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation of Nigeria (the third highest office after the President and Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria); Boss Mustapha whose office supervises the Federal Road Safety Corps.

After the exchange of cordiality, Mr. Ibrahim Sannoh highlighted historical good wills between Nigeria and Sierra Leone at the Common Wealth of Nations, ECOWAS, AU , among others especially leading the ECOMOG to help stabilize the country at the decade civil war of which he pleaded for a minute of silence for the late Max Well Kobe and all others who lost their lives. He further stated that the purpose of their visit was to Strengthen bilateral ties and experience sharing in Biometric Driver and Vehicle License issuance reforms and Road Safety Strategic Operations; Logistical Support for Post Crash Response via the Zebra Strategy introduced by the FRSC, and Signage Provision to be piloted in Sierra Leone and Capacity Building opportunities for the Road Safety Corps at the FRSC Academy.

Mr. Mustapha Esq, Secretary to the Government’s Federation of the Federal Republic of Nigeria commended the SLRSA Executive Director for his enthusiasm and understanding of the issues and articulating Road Safety with a cool head. “You can only solve a problem when you fully understand the issues or causes of the problem” Mr. Mustapha said. He described Mr. Sannoh as a focus and young personality with creative mind and a passion for Road Safety.

Mr. Mustapha expressed his government’s willingness to support Mr. Sannoh; the SLRSA and Sierra Leone as a whole. He however noted with certainty that Sierra Leone is a country with a lot of potential prior to the war when he visited Sierra Leone, he said he is sure that the country under the current government is setting up well. He said that Nigeria will soon work on a national bilateral capacity building programs presented by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs through the High Commission of Nigeria.

He concluded by prevailing on the Corp Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps Dr. Boboye Oyeyemi to ensure they provide the maximum support to the SLRSA.
